The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Members of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians" ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We are young and old. Our members come in every shade of skin color. Some of us are wealthy, some are financially poor, but all of us are blessed with an awareness that our blessings (time, talent or treasure) are to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need.
Energized by the awareness that service to our brother or sister in need is in fact an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are keenly aware that poverty, suffering and loneliness are present for millions in our communities. For that reason, we collaborate with all who seek to relieve need and address its causes.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. An essential precept of the Society's work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. The Society recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless.
The Society's nearly 100,000 trained volunteers in the United States provided 12.5 million hours of volunteer service in 2018, helping more than 5.4 million people through visit to homes, prisons and hospital at a value of more than $1.1 billion dollars.
When crisis strikes, individuals shouldn't worry about how they are going live or get dressed for work. Our Voucher Program allows us to meet people's needs for clothing and household items.
In some ways, our Voucher Program illustrates the high-impact cycle we can create as a community. When people donate high-quality items to our store, we can make them available to struggling community members and we can sell them to enhance the scope of our operation. Voucher recipients are empowered to move out of cyclical poverty, and we're able to help more people achieve their fullest potential.
St. Vincent de Paul Society Wisconsin Dells works with people who need assistance with basic living conditions and expenses.
We do not ask that you belong to any certain faith community or that you participate in any religious activity in order to receive assistance; we serve all human beings.
In partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Society, each year on Thanksgiving, Denny's Restaurant provides a FREE community meal. Everyone is welcome to come to the table and enjoy a turkey spread.
The tradition continues annually as we support Holiday with a HERO.
Celebrating Christmas can be stressful for a family in need. Each year St. Vincent de Paul Society Wisconsin Dells support families in need.
